Hancock residents Richard and Marianne Murray were the winners of the $8.5 million Maryland
Lottery last Thursday with a Lotto ticket purchased at Pittman’s Liquor Store in Hancock. Murray, who is 69 years old, met his wife while in the service in Germany in 1945, and the couple plans a trip there in the future.
A Hancock motorcyclist was killed and his passenger seriously injured in a cycle-truck accident along Route 484 in Union Township April 12. Police said that Paul McCarty Jr. of Hancock, operating a Kawasaki Ninja motorcycle, was travelling south on Route 484, when the cycle crossed the center lane. He lost control of the cycle, which struck a northbound 1979 Ford pickup being driven by Eric Fletcher, Warfordsburg. His passenger, Jennifer Rose, 16, also of Hancock, was thrown from the cycle. She is listed in serious condition.
