Historical Society Celebrations And Parade DVDs Available
Not content to let past centennial celebrations “fade into the sunset,” the Fulton County Historical Society has had selected past parades and celebrations transferred from video tapes to DVD's.
A two-disc with nearly 3-1/2 hours of viewing time contains the 1936 Sesquicentennial Parade and events filmed by John M. Spangler; the 1959 Fulton County Centennial Parade filmed by C.B. Chubb; the 1961 175th Celebration and Parade; and the 1986 Bicentennial Parade and monthly events, filmed by the McConnellsburg High School Video Club.
The 1950 film was recently discovered in the Fulton House archives and has not been available to the public before now. Special thanks to Grover Strait for his expertise in enhancing the quality of these discs and for much time spent editing.
The discs are available at the Fulton County Treasurer’s Office and the Fulton County Library. Cost is $20. For mail ordering, add $2.50 for postage, and send to Fulton County Historical Society, PO Box 115, McConnellsburg, PA 17233.
Proceeds from this fund raiser will support the society’s commitment to renovate the outside of the old jail, behind the Fulton County Courthouse in McConnellsburg.
