Racing Roundup

By Brad Vores

Greg Hodnett put on a dominating performance to bring home the Friday night 410 Sprint car win at Williams Grove Speedway.

Hodnett started on the pole and ran away from the field to capture his 47th career Williams Grove win over Lance Dewease, Fred Rahmer, Brian Montieth and Brian Leppo.

Jason Covert also wired the field to win the 25-lap Late Model feature for his fourth career track win.

Covert held off a late race bid from Jeremy Miller, with Nick Dickson, Greg Satterlee and Derek Byler completing the top five. Marvin Winters had problems during his heat race and did not qualify for the feature.

Cory Haas used a late race pass on young Logan Schuchart to score his first win of the year in the 25-lap 410 Sprint car feature.

When Schuchart made a wrong decision in lapped traffic, Haas moved in for the kill, taking the lead on Lap 22 and racing away for the win over Schuchart, Billy Dietrich, Aaron Ott and Alan Krimes.

Niki Young won the 358 Sprint car feature at Lincoln over Dale Hammaker, Cris Eash, Austin Hogue and Todd Rittenhouse Jr. Harrisonville’s Logan Wagner had another top-10 finishing as he placed 10th.

Pete Weaver opened the Hagerstown Speedway season with a win in Saturday’s Late Model Sportsman feature on Favorite Driver Family Night.

Weaver defeated Mike Walls, Wayne Walls Jr., Donnie Farling and McConnellsburg’s Cory Houck for the win. Houck won an extra $100 for receiving the most votes as favorite driver.

Tony Catlett won the Pure Stock main over Dave Stouffer Jr., Kenny Dillon, Kevin Koontz and Brian Miller, while Kenny Thomas won the Hobby Stock feature over Gary Proctor, Mark Vegh, Nathaniel Younker and Nick Dibella.

Pat Cannon took the big payday in the series debut for the Mach 1 Chassis Mid Atlantic 360 Sprint Series event Saturday at Selinsgrove Speedway.

Cannon led all 25 laps in scoring the win over Chuck Hebing, Daryn Pittman, Davie Franek and Mark Smith. McConnellsburg’s Mark Watkins finished 14th.

Port Royal Speedway officials were forced to postpone feature events from Saturday night after drizzle hit the track right at feature time. Keith Kauffman and Lance Dewease were on the front row for the 410 Sprint car feature. The 410 Sprint car feature will be made up this Saturday night, while the Late Model feature will be made up next weekend.

That will do it for another week. E-mail reaches me at Bvores@comcast.net.
