Thelma G. Nelson
Thelma G. “Dot” Nelson, 82, Newville, died Wednesday, March 28, 2012, in her home.
She was born July 6, 1929, in Fulton County, the daughter of Charles E. and Ola B. Pyne Strait.
She is the widow of James B. Nelson and had attended Carlisle Brethren In Christ Church.
She is survived by two daughters: Brenda K. Line of Newville and Betty Nelson Janks of Elkins Park, Pa.; three grandchildren, who were the joys of her life: Connor J. Line, Delaney C. Janks and Aiden R. Janks; one brother, Herman Strait of Harrisonville; and two sisters: Hazel Hess of Lexington, S.C., and Ada Lowe of Shermansdale; and her furry companion “Sparky,” the Jack Russell terrier.
She was preceded in death by three sisters: Maudeline Hess, Jane Barnhart and Nellie Smith, and two brothers: David and Clarence Strait.
Memorial services were held at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 3, in Carlisle Brethren In Christ Church. A private burial ceremony was held at Prospect Hill Cemetery in Newville.
