SPECIAL TO THE NEWS

Fulton County Food Basket was expecting a delivery on Wednesday, March 14, when the truck coming from the central PA food bank broke down close to Knobsville along Route 522 north.

Knowing that frozen and shelf-stable food would need to be unloaded by hand and brought to the Food Basket, the staff called for help from the local community. The Food Basket staff and board members, private individuals, local churches, county offices and McConnellsburg Fire Co. worked together to unload the stranded truck and ensure its contents delivery to the Food Basket. Without their help, the Food Basket would have struggled to complete the delivery and assure the safety of the food to be given out to individuals and families in need within the county.
