Area Photographers To Be Featured On Local Phone Books

A photograph of “Springtime in Caledonia State Park” by Chambersburg resident Susan Mellott will be featured on the cover of CenturyLink’s local directory that will be distributed in the Chambersburg area this summer. Shalom Christian Academy student A.J. Eshleman’s “Lake Tranquility: Cove Valley Youth Camp” will be featured on the cover of the directories that will be distributed in Waynesboro and Hagerstown.

The 18th annual CenturyLink Yellow Pages photo contest was held in conjunction with the Council for the Arts; winners were announced at a reception held at the council office, 159 South Main St., Chambersburg, March 30; the 103- photo display will be on view through April 3-6 at the council, Tuesday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Mellott’s photo depicts a native redbud tree beside the bridge leading to Caledonia State Park, in Fayetteville. More than 74,000 copies of the directory will be published.

Earning a place on the cover of the directory for Waynesboro and Hagerstown was A.J. Eshleman’s photo of tranquil lakeside scene at Cove Valley Youth Camp near Mercersburg. 32,000 copies of this directory will be published.

Honorable mention awards were made to Patricia Starry of Shippensburg for her photo of fall foliage at Cowans Gap State Park and William Smith of Mc- Con-nellsburg for his photo of a country dirt road near Harrisonville.

A total of 103 entries were received from photographers living in all parts of Fulton and Franklin counties. The photographs will be on display at the Council for the Arts office at 159 South Main St. Chambersburg, April 3-6, Tuesday thru Friday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. First announced in January, the deadline for contest entries was March 9.
