W.Va. Archery Tourney Set For Saturday

CHARLESTON, W. Va. (AP) – West Virginia's annual Archery in the Schools tournament is heading to the Charleston Civic Center this weekend.

About 660 competitors representing 50 schools from across the state are involved in Saturday’s event.

Awards will be presented to the top three boys and girls in elementary, middle and high school divisions. The top three overall shooters also will receive awards.

Tens of thousands of students have been introduced to archery as part of their physical education classes in 268 schools since the program's inception in 2004. The tournament is open only to schools that have received Division of Natural Resources sponsored training.
