Mills Sings National Anthem At Bryce Jordan Center

Olivia Mills, a junior at Forbes Road High School, had the privilege of singing the national anthem on Friday, March 23, at the PIAA State Basketball Championships.

Accompanied by her parents, Michael Lupey and Joyce Mills-Lupey, she was escorted by Dr. Robert Lombardi, PIAA associate executive director, to center court at the Bryce Jordan Center. She received a certificate of appreciation, a program mention and a PIAA championship T-shirt for her participation.

She is a member of National Honor Society, FCCLA and Drama Club and plays the flute in the band. She plays for the Forbes Road varsity field hockey team and is a sprinter and long-jump athlete for the combined Forbes Road and Mc- Connellsburg track team. She attends Knobsville United Methodist Church, where she frequently sings for Sunday services as well as community based special events. She just completed her role as Ado Annie in the Forbes Road rendition of “Oklahoma” and is currently a judge for the Rising Star competition in which she placed third in 2011.

Audrey Hall and Brown “Tink” Cutchall orchestrated this exciting opportunity for one of our local students.
