Thelma L. Rotz

Orbisonia, 83

Thelma Louise Rotz, 83, Orbisonia, died Wednesday, March 21, 2012, at Altoona Regional Health System, Altoona Hospital Campus.

Born September 4, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Herbert H. and Thelma B. (Carbaugh) Wilson. She was united in marriage to Robert C. Rotz of Three Springs September 27, 1951, in Three Springs United Methodist Church by Rev. Louis Barth. He survives at their home.

She is survived by her son, Michael, and his wife, Robin, McConnellsburg; two grandchildren: Heather Bloomer and her husband, Kristopher, of Harrisonville and Aaron Rotz and his wife, Jennifer, Chambersburg; and two great-granddaughters: Claire and Meghan Bloomer; two siblings: Herbert Wilson and his wife, Sylvia, James Creek, and Barbara Welch, Mount Union.

She was preceded in death by two sisters; Jean Beckenbaugh and Lawanda Morgan.

She was a member of Orbisonia United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the Gleaners Sunday School class.

She was a past worthy matron of the Order of the Eastern Star, Chapter 549.

She was a 1946 graduate of Mount Union High School and a 1947 graduate of Huntingdon Secretarial School.

She worked for various insurance agencies and retired from Brown and Walters Insurance Agency in 1990.

Her family will remember her as a loving mother and grandmother who enjoyed baking pies and cookies and working crossword puzzles.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 25, at Martin R. Brown Funeral Home, Orbisonia. Rev. Edward Seeley and Rev. William Bair officiated. Interment was private and at the discretion of the family.

An Eastern Star memorial service was held at 7 p.m., Saturday, March 24, at the funeral home.
