Voter registration for the May Primary Election totals 5,019, which includes 2,792 Democrats, 2,194

Republicans and 33 non-partisans.

Two McConnellsburg residents, related by marriage, died unexpectedly on Saturday, just a few hours apart. They were Bruce Harris and his wife’s sister-in-law, Mrs. W. Robert Linn.

State Police Trooper L. Janick and Thomas J. Fischer of Bedford station have been transferred to McConnellsburg.

Marriage licenses at the local courthouse: Joseph T. Wible, Fort Littleton, and Dorothy L. Barndollar, Mc- Connellsburg; Randall Dean Cowan, Neelyton, and Myrtle Lucille Wible of Fort Littleton.

Republican candidate for governor, the Honorable William Scranton, is scheduled to visit McConnellsburg on April 30.

Lt. and Mrs. James F. Sloan were guests of honor at a family dinner given by his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Sloan, on Sunday. Lt. Sloan will leave this Thursday from McGuire Air Force Base for Germany, where he will be stationed for several years.

Carl Gordon and Parker Crouse are members of the Penn State University Chapel Choir.

Reports of condition of the two local banks show assets of $3,724,602.59 at The First National and $5,518,542.16 at The Fulton County Bank.

Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Mellott of Crystal Spring celebrated their golden wedding anniversary on Sunday, April 9. The minister who married them, Rev. T.P. Garland, who is in his 90th year, was present at a party at their home.

Births at the Medical Center: a daughter to Mr. and Mrs. Paul Shaw, Crystal Spring, on April 9; a daughter to Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Layton, McConnellsburg, on April 13; a daughter to Mr and Mrs. Clair Williamson, Fort Loudon, on April 13; a son to Mr. and Mrs. Charles Crouse, McConnellsburg, on April 15; a daughter to Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Seburn, Hancock, on April 15.

News of men in service: Elwood Doyle, McConnellsburg, who enlisted in the Marines on April 6, is stationed at Parris Island; Dennis Lee Orth, Harrisonville, enlisted in the Navy on March 30 and Kenneth Stanley Everetts on April 2 and are training at Great Lakes Naval Base; George H. Reisner was recently discharged from the Navy with the rank of lieutenant senior grade, and the position of chief engineer on the submarine Sirago; Morris L. Suders II was discharged from the armed forces on March 19 at Fort Hamilton, N.Y., after serving in Germany; James Elwood Stevens, Wells Tannery, was discharged on April 2, after service in Korea.
