Johnnies Motel and Diner changed hands this week when Mr. and Mrs. Earl Alloway sold the business to Mr. and Mrs. Ray Robinson of Mc- Connellsburg. The new owners will take possession on May 15 and the Alloways will move into the home they own, adjacent to the diner. The local diner, which was built in 1932, has grown and prospered through the years into a 14- room motel and restaurant complex. Earl Alloway bought the business from John Stenger, now of Chambersburg, in 1960.
Susan Martz, 14, a ninth-grade honor student at the Forbes Road High School, was an honored guest at the Philadelphia General Hospital on April 8. She was invited there to accept the hospital’s thanks for the kidney dialysis machine which she bought through a massive Betty Crocker coupon drive that she organized. She collected more than 4.7 million coupons.
Miss Wanda J. Merrell of McConnellsburg and Lt. Larry F. Smith of Belleville were married Palm Sunday in Saint Paul’s United Church of Christ, McConnellsburg. Wanda is the daughter of Mrs. Joy Merrell of McConnellsburg and the late Edward Merrell. Larry is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred E. Smith of Belleville.

U.S. Air Force Sergeant Martin H. Shimer, son of Mr. and Mrs. B. Hiley Shimer of McConnellsburg, has arrived for duty at Otis Air Force Base in Massachusetts.
U.S. Air Force First Class Phyllis C. McDaid, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert McDaid of Hustontown, recently was crowned a princess in the 1972 “Miss Brooks Air Force Base” selection at Brooks AFB, Texas.
