Spring is officially here and has mostly been marked by two of the season’s heaviest snowfalls in the county. Although, with moderating temperatures, the snow won’t stick around for long.

A Big Cove Tannery man was sentenced in Fulton County Court on March 23 in connection with the July 7, 1990, shooting death of his wife at their Thompson Township home. Judge Keller sentenced Calvin Everts on the charge of voluntary manslaughter but mentally ill to which Everts had pled no contest on February 25. Everts was ordered to pay costs of prosecution and a fine and serve from 54 months to 120 months in a state correctional institution.

Gary and Linda Grissinger recently purchased the Harold Hunsecker property on North Second Street. Mr. and Mrs. Hunsecker are now living at the Menno Haven retirement home in Chambersburg.

Helen Overly, a founder of The Fulton County Tourist Promotion Agency and creator of the Fulton Fall Folk Festival, will be recognized for her outstanding leadership at the agency’s March 31 annual dinner.

Mr and Mrs. Calvin Barton of Warfordsburg announce the engagement of their daughter, Melissa Ann, to Gene Swadley, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ray Swadley of Needmore.

Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Morris of Big Cove Tannery are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter, Lyndora Morris, to Jeffrey Seville, son of Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Seville, Big Cove Tannery.

Mr. and Mrs. James Glunt of McConnellsburg announce the engagement of Mrs. Glunt’s daughter, Bonnie Keefer, to Scott Hann, son of Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Hann Sr. of Roxbury.

Lisa Mellott and Jeffrey Sherman were united in marriage March 17 at Hagerstown. The bride is the daughter of Stanley and Janet Mellott of McConnellsburg and the groom is the son of Jack and Judy Sherman, also of Mc- Connellsburg.

Mr. and Mrs. Robert Golden of Warfordsburg were surprised at a small gathering held February 29 celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary.

Mr. and Mrs. Scott Buterbaugh of Harrisonville announce the birth of a son, Brandon Scott, on March 23, at home.

Dennis Souders, McConnellsburg, and Susan Runk, McConnellsburg, applied for a marriage license at the local courthouse during the past week.
