Recognized During Youth In Art Month
The month of March is Art in Education/Youth in Art Month. Megan Fix, a third-grade student at McConnellsburg Elementary School, Chase Novak, a seventh-grade student at McConnellsburg Middle School, and McKenzie Spade, a senior at McConnellsburg High School, have been recognized for their display of artistic ability in the visual arts program.
Megan is the daughter of Todd and Laura Fix of McConnellsburg. She is a strong academic student and has been on the “All A Honor Roll.” In addition to her studies, Megan is a member of the AYSO soccer team and the local Girl Scout troop. She enjoys math, art, gym, reading and spending time with her cat, “Duce.”
Chase is the son of James and Sandy Novak of McConnellsburg. Chase is a strong academic student who has been on the “All A Honor Roll.” His abilities extend beyond the classroom. Chase is the Regional Hoop shoot Champion. (The region includes the states of New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania.) He enjoys math and gym classes, collecting coins, playing sports and spending time with friends.
McKenzie is the daughter of Ronald and Heather Spade of Mc- Connellsburg . She is an “A-B” student and has been on the Distinguished Honor Roll all four years of high school. Her work ethic is reflected in her studies, photographs and artwork. In 2010 she was the recipient of the Photography Award of Academic Excellence and won grand prize in the Fulton County Teen Art Competition. Her photographs and artwork have excellent composition, are thought-provoking, and are inviting to the viewer. She is a varsity letter recipient in basketball (statistician), volleyball (statistician), and track and field. McKenzie is currently enrolled in a studio art elective and plans to pursue a career as a special needs psychologist.
