Park Making Big Improvements
Thanks in part to the Lions Club Crab Feed and Dinner Auction that raised $38,500 this year, a flurry of building projects and improvements are taking place at the community park this spring. Above: Don Fowler, Scott Alexander and Steve Steele discuss plans while looking over the newly completed and improved parking area. The packed and leveled milling granular surface was completed by P & W Excavating, Ellis & P.R. McQuade, Hess Excavating and Mike Richards. Seen in the background are the indoor batting and golf cages and the soon-to-be completed tennis court. Left: New dugouts and scorekeepers booth and an access track are being built on the high school softball field. World is being completed by R.H. Bunch Construction, Hess Excavating and Mike Richards. Other improvements this spring include turf improvements to the soccer field, outdoor lighting, improved security and video surveillance. Water holding tanks have also been installed for Little League field irrigation. The park has 6.5 acres of fields and an $18,000 yearly maintenance budget.
