McConnellsburg Fire Co. is sponsoring an appearance of country music star Charley Pride at the Maryland Theatre in Hagerstown for two performances on Friday, March 20.

Former heavyweight champion boxer Mike Tyson stopped at Hoover’s Texaco in Fort Littleton on Sunday evening after leaving the turnpike to fill his car up with gas on his way to Pittsburgh.

The Friends of the Fulton County Library and the library board have announced the completion of the library community room located in the lower level of the Fulton County Library in McConnellsburg. This major undertaking was made possible through a grant from the Alexander Stewart M.D. Foundation. Additional funds for the renovation were received from Friends of the Fulton County Library, Fulton County Quilt Club and the Exxon Corporation.

Members of several organizations met Tuesday with Fulton County Commissioners to discuss the possibility of developing more comprehensive daycare and related services in the county. Discussion was held concerning the need for more extensive daycare services in the county and possible sources of funding for a building to house such services.

Orville Beatty, who celebrated his 97th birthday on March 15, was featured in last week’s Hancock News. He was born near Buck Valley and has lived his entire life in the lower end of the county.

Mr. and Mrs. Charles Edwards, St. Thomas, are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter, Tonya Miley, to Paul Hock III, son of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Hock Jr., Mc- Connellsburg.

William and Lenore Wolfe of McConnellsburg celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on March 14.

Kimberly Miller of Everett and Kenneth Harr Jr., Big Cove Tannery, exchanged marriage vows on Saturday, February 15, at Chestnut Ridge Independent Fellowship Church, New Paris. The bride is the daughter of James Reid, Everett, and Christine Reid, Johnstown. The groom is the son of Kenneth and Sonja Harr of Big Cove Tannery.
