Racing Roundup

By Brad Vores

Lincoln Speedway is three for three so far in 2012 as Brian Montieth became the third different winner in 410 Sprint car action this season in the Pigeon Hills.

Montieth started seventh in the 25-lap 410 Sprint car main and went out front with 11 laps completed and dominated the rest of the way in scoring his 27th career track win over 11th-starting Daryn Pittman, Danny Dietrich, 12th-starting Fred Rahmer and 13th- starting Alan Krimes.

Jeff Rohrbaugh used a late race move to win the season opener for 358 Sprint cars and his seventh career win at Lincoln. Rohrbaugh defeated Tim Wagaman, with Harrisonville’s Logan Wagner turning in a great opening day effort with a third-place finish in the Rucker Motorsports No. 6R machine. Fourth went to Glenndon Forsythe, with fifth going to Adrian Shaffer.

Lincoln switches to night racing this Saturday beginning at 6 p.m.

Selinsgrove Speedway opened its season with the 410 Sprints on Sunday, where Daryn Pittman picked up the win and the $4,000 prize.

Pittman inherited the lead on Lap 10 when Brent Marks flipped, and he never looked back in the win over Fred Rahmer, Greg Hodnett, Brian Montieth and Aaron Ott.

Tim Kaeding and Joey Saldana were winners on the World of Outlaws tour as they returned to action on the west coast. Kaeding won Thursday night at the Dirt Track at Las Vegas, while Saldana won Saturday night at California’s Perris Auto Speedway.

Port Royal Speedway held Bug Day on Saturday in preparation of this coming Saturday’s season opener for 410 Sprints and 358 Sprints. Race time will be 6 p.m.

Hagerstown Speedway will have a test and tune and Swap Meet this Saturday beginning at 9am with the swap meet, flea market and community yard and craft show. The test and tune will begin at 1pm.
