A warrant has been issued and an arrest is expected within the next few days of the man who allegedly shot John Peck of Warfordsburg in the early hours Sunday in Hancock. Hancock police reported that the shooting took place outside the American Legion hall, following an argument. The as-yet unidentified assailant used a .22 calibre pistol and shot the Fulton County man three times – in the stomach, in the arm and in the leg. His condition is listed as satisfactory at Washington County Hospital.

Fulton County Republicans gathered at the McConnellsburg Firehall on Saturday night for their annual Lincoln Day Dinner, which had been postponed due to the severe snowstorm in February.

Two Fulton County men were honored by their fellow sportsmen at the annual banquet of the Fulton County Pistol and Rifle Club on Friday night as winners of the state’s “Triple Trophy Awards.” The awards were presented to William C. Barnhart of Needmore and Neil Covalt of Warfordsburg by Carl Jarret in the form of framed certificates of achievement and specially designed shoulder insignias. Both men were recognized for their prowess as hunters, both bagging an antlered deer, a wild turkey and a bear during last year’s hunting seasons.

An open house was held in the McConnellsburg Firehall on March 12 honoring the 50th wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Obed Mellott of McConnellsburg.

U.S. Air Force Sergeant Richard L. Hershey, son of Mr. and Mrs. Wallace A. Hershey of McConnellsburg, has arrived for duty at Langley Air Force Base, Va.
