Ida A. Steele
She was born in Thompson Township, Pa., November 21, 1920, the daughter of the late Dennis and Sarah (Gregory) Everts. She was the widow of William Steele, whom she married on January 19, 1958. He passed away on April 9, 2000.
She was a member of Fair Ridge Assembly of God Church, Shade Gap
She worked as a waitress at the Toll House Restaurant in Ft. Littleton for several years and was a cook and well-known pie baker at Sunny Ridge Restaurant in Shade Gap, upon retiring at age 68. Her joys in life were fulfilled in being a homemaker, gardening, yardwork, canning and filling special requests for her baked goods.
She is survived by sons, Johnnie D. ( husband of Ruth) Clugston of St. Thomas; Lawrence Jr. (husband of Linda) Clugston of Chambersburg; Dennis “Earl” (husband of Jean) Clugston of New Park, Pa.; daughter Patricia A. Mills of Sagamore Hills, Ohio; stepdaughter Ruth Leidich of Harrisburg, and stepson Cecil Clugston of Chambersburg; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, step-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Wilbur R. Clugston, who passed away on April 20, 1949; and stepchildren Dorothy McCardell, Reed Clugston and Esta Hunter.
Services were held at Fair Ridge Assembly of God Church, Shade Gap, at 11 a.m., Wednesday, March 7, 2012. Pastor Karey Schaffer officiated. Interment was at Union Cemetery, McConnellsburg.
