FCMC 2012 Health Fair Events Begin March 13
Fulton County Medical Center is kicking off its 2012 healthfair schedule this month with “Get Your Plate in Shape.” On Tuesday, March 13, the main lobby of the Medical Center will be abuzz with nutrition information, displays, and free food samples. The fair runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
“This year is an exciting time in nutrition with all the new changes and recommendations from the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. I am pleased to talk about the food and nutrition information from eatright.org and the My Plate concept from myplate. gov.” says registered dietitian Cathy Snyder. “FCMC will also be giving away to the first 150 participants, Phillips lettuce seed packets for you to grow in your own healthy garden.”
Also on hand with Snyder will be the Penn State Master Gardners Club, Take Shape for Life, Diabetes Education, FCMC Auxiliary, Arbonne and free osteoporosis screening from FCMC Diagnostic Services. In addition, FCMC will also be collecting money for the Fulton County Food Basket.

March 13: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., FCMC Main Lobby – Get Your Plate in Shape. FCMC registered dietitian Cathy Snyder will be on hand to provide information on the newest trends in nutrition.
She will be joined by Penn State Master Gardeners, diabetes education and FCMC Diagnostic Services will provide free bone density testing.
April 12: 11 a.m. to 11:30.a.m., FCMC Pearl Room – springtime allergies lecture luncheon with Dr. Nicholas Orfan, M.D., boardcertified allergist of Allergy and Asthmas Center Chambersburg & Hagerstown. Limited seating. Call to reserve seat at 485-6115.
April 20: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., FCMC main lobby – Spring Into Health- “Breathing And You.” Information on air quality testing, tobacco-use education, pulse oxygen screening, CO monitoring, allergy information, diabetes education and open house in cardiopulmonary rehab with free blood pressures.
September 30: noon to 4 p.m., FCMC main lobby – Healthy Sportsman. Dozens of free screenings, drawings and door prizes, including: free EKG, blood pressure, glucose, hearing, tobacco-use education diabetes educaiton, vision and much more.
October 11: 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., FCMC Specialty Services – Ladies Night Out. Pampering night with free paraffin dips. FCMC specialist Dr. Boland will also have information regarding plastic surgery as well as diabetes education.
