PHILADELPHIA (AP) – A man accused of ramming through a security fence at Philadelphia International Airport and driving his SUV onto a runway at more than 100 mph as an incoming plane approached is facing federal charges.

The U.S. attorney announced Friday that Kenneth Mazik is being charged with disrupting operations at the airport and endangering safety there.

Authorities say the 24- year-old Chadds Ford man sped onto two runways at the airport Thursday and was chased by police before being arrested five minutes later.

The airport was closed for nearly 30 minutes. In the meantime, planes preparing to land circled the skies and other planes stalled on the tarmac.

Terrorism isn’t suspected. Mazik faces DUI and reckless endangerment charges.

He is in custody, and it isn’t immediately clear if he has a lawyer.
