Racing Roundup

By Brad Vores

The 2012 Central PA season opener is in the books as Lincoln Speedway didn’t get the warmest of days but they did get a dry day and were able to open with a large crowd on Saturday.

Adam Wilt scored the opening day 410 Sprint car feature win as he dominated the 30 lap event in taking the win over Brent Marks, Kevin Nouse, Brian Montieth and Doug Esh. There were 28 cars in competition for the opener.

The UNOH All Star Sprints wrapped up its Florida swing over the weekend with three events at Bubba Raceway Park as Danny Lasoski picked up two wins and Dale Blaney won the other.

Lasoski won Thursday night’s opener at the track over Blaney, Tim Shaffer, Sam Hafertepe Jr. and Aaron Ott.

Blaney’s Friday night win was his 85th career win with the All Stars and it came over Daryn Pittman, Hafertepe, Fred Rahmer and Lasoski.

In Saturday’s finale, it was Lasoski again showing the fast way home to the $7,000 win over Ott, Danny Holtgraver, Greg Hodnett and Rahmer.

Lasoski pilots a car wrenched by Harrisonville’s Chris Strait as they won four events down south.

The DIRTcar UMP Late models were in action at Volusia Speedway Park last week where Steve Francis won the Monday night show over Dennis Erb, Jr., Rick Eckert, Billy Moyer and Jimmy Mars.

Tuesday night saw Moyer pick up the win over Darrell Lanigan, Francis, Eckert and Erb while Friday night found John Blankenship picking up the win over Lanigan, Jimmy Owens, Shannon Babb and Shane Clanton.

The WoO late models also had some stops last week at VSP as Dennis Erb, Jr. was the Thursday night winner over Scott Bloomquist, Chub Frank, Francis and Owens while Moyer finished out the series with a Saturday win over Don O’Neal, Clanton, Lanigan and Francis.

Don’t forget to stop out at the Valley Mall in Hagerstown for the annual Hagerstown Speedway race car show beginning Wednesday and ending Friday night as many cars that will compete at the track will be on display.

That’s it for another week. Lincoln will be back in action this Saturday. Until next time, e-mail reaches me at Bvores@comcast.net.
