Raymond H. Laidig
Raymond H. “ Buck” Laidig, 96, died under hospice care, in Celina, Ohio on Sunday, February 26, 2011.
He was born in Laidig, Pa., on July 23, 1915.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Bess and Hiram Laidig of Laidig, Pa.; four brothers; four sisters; and his first wife, Mildred Louise Hewitt Laidig of Warren, Ohio.
He worked on the family farm until the outbreak of World War II.
He enlisted in the Army and served in the South Pacific, rising to the rank of First Sergeant. He received an honorable discharge in 1945. After the war he moved to Warren, Ohio, and became an independent trucker. In the late sixties, he left trucking and started working for the Ohio Turnpike Commission. He retired from the Ohio Turnpike as a supervisor in 1984.
He married Lois Ingraham Laidig in 1978, and they lived in Newton Falls, Ohio and Celina, Ohio.
He is survived by his wife, Lois; daughter Gay L. Fuller Keech (and husband Bradley); stepson Jeff Ingraham (and wife Sue); stepdaughter Lynn Myers (and husband Bob); stepdaughter Beth Hoffman ( and husband David); six stepgrandchildren, and one step-greatgranddaughter.
In his free time, he enjoyed Cleveland Indians baseball, charter boat fishing on Lake Erie, outdoor summer concerts, traveling with Lois, and visiting with his family.
