Goldie M. Kerlin

McConnellsburg, 89

Goldie Mae Kerlin, 89, McConnellsburg, died Tuesday, February 21, 2012, at Fulton County Medical Center, Extended Care Unit, Shimer Trail, in McConnellsburg.

She was born January 28, 1923, in Crystal Spring, the daughter of the late William and Chloe (Dishong) Welsh. She was married to Warren C. Kerlin on May 17, 1947.

She worked as a presser at Everett Sewing Factory and Sagner Sewing Factory. She later worked for Ralph and Ruby Kerlin in their greenhouse that later became Elvey’s Flower Shop where she worked as well.

She was member of Knobsville Church of the Brethren where she was very active. She enjoyed spending her time quilting, and she liked to fish all year round.

She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Warren C. Kerlin of McConnellsburg; one daughter, Modesta Kerlin of Blairs Mills, Pa.; one brother, David Welsh, and five sisters: Opel Raker of Mercersburg; Betty Mellott of McConnellsburg; Florence Fix of McConnellsburg; Helen Keefer of Little Cove, Pa.; and Sue Yeager of Hustontown. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Chloe Welsh; one brother, Albin Welsh, and four sisters: Amy Drenning, Irene Feight, Alice Mellott and Fay Koontz

Funeral services were held at 11a.m., Saturday, February 25, 2012, at Knobsville Church of the Brethren. Rev. Christian Elliott and Rev. Roger Truax officiated. Interment was at Union Cemetery.
