W. Pa. Guards Suspended, Inmate Beating Alleged
ERIE, Pa. (AP) – The Erie County District Attorney's Office is investigating allegations that an inmate was beaten at the county prison, while guards purposely did nothing.
The Erie Times-News (http://bit.ly/Ap30qF ) re- ports Friday that county officials confirmed the suspension of two guards but declined to name them.
District Attorney Jack Daneri says the investigation is almost complete.
The paper reports that officials and the inmate's lawyer say it's alleged that guards arranged to have as many as five prisoners beat the inmate. One of the guards may also be related to a woman whom the inmate is accused of assaulting in December.
The inmate who is at the center of the allegations is Thor D. Perry, who has been in prison awaiting prosecution on the assault case.
