James Daniel Schriever, 22, of Berkeley Springs, was instantly killed on Saturday in Hancock when a pickup pulled onto Route 522 from a side street into the path of a tractor-trailer driven by Schriver.

Mrs. Leta J. Kriner, 50, Wells Tannery, was killed instantly on Saturday at 8 p.m. when she was struck by a car at the scene of a one-car accident which had occurred approximately one-half hour earlier. Her 15-year-old son, James, was a passenger in the car involved in the first accident. Mrs. Kriner had been called to the accident scene and, with several other bystanders, was watching as the wrecked car was being connected to a tow truck. Her son, James, received minor injuries in the first accident and was treated at the Medical Center.

Marcus Downes of the Downes Motel, Fort Littleton, arrived home last week after a 10-day trip to Spain, staying at Madrid’s newest hotel, the Eurobuilding Hotel. While in Spain, he toured Toledo, Seville and Malaga and flew over Gibraltar, which he reports is a heavily guarded area.

Figures released last week by the Pennsylvania Game Commission show that 618 antlered deer were taken in Fulton County during the 1971 season. This compared to 573 bucks harvested in 1970.

Mrs. Sandra Knepper graduated on March 1 from the Franklin County Area Vocational Technical School for practical nurses at Chambersburg. She is now employed at the Decker Nursing Home.

Engagement: Mrs. Grace Sipes of Needmore announces the engagement of her daughter, Susan M. Sipes, to Kirk M. Blenard of Hagerstown.

Barbara Joy Fletcher graduated from the Franklin County Vocational Technical Practical Nursing Program on March 1. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Verl Fletcher and granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Fletcher of Warfordsburg.

Births at the Medical Center: a daughter to Mr. and Mrs. Charles W. Burkett of McConnellsburg on March 5; a daughter to Mr. and Mrs. David Hixon of Hancock on March 9; a daughter to Mr. and Mrs. Max Miller of Harrisonville on March 10.

Mr. and Mrs. Robert C. Golden of Warfordsburg celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary on March 5 with a surprise party given by their children.

Miss Debra Ann Laidig and Sgt. Gary Eugene Stevens were united in marriage on February 26 in a double-ring ceremony at the United Church of Christ, McConnellsburg. The bride is the daughter of Isabelle M. Laidig of McConnellsburg and the late Wilmer D. Laidig. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Paul G. Stevens of McConnellsburg.
