Government Updates Fish Consumption Warnings
HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) – Pennsylvania government officials are publicizing updated fish consumption advisories, including a clarification that prohibits harvesting live mussels and clams in the state.
The new list released Thursday applies only to fish caught recreationally and not to commercial operations or restaurants.
The entire state remains under a blanket advisory to limit consumption of recreationally caught fish to one meal per week, or a halfpound for a 150-pound person.
Safe consumption of fish involves properly cleaning, skinning, trimming and cooking the meat.
The latest advisories are available on the Department of Environmental Protection's website by using the keywords, “fish advisories.”
