Lynn E. Schetrompf Sr.
Lynn E. “Bill” Schetrompf Sr., 72, Hedgesville, W.Va., died after a long illness with his family by his side Thursday, February 16, 2012, at Winchester Medical Center.
Born November 18, 1939, in Warfordsburg, he was the son of the late Arlie J. Schetrompf Sr. and Hazel Bishop Schetrompf and the husband of Alverda Hoopenardner Schetrompf of Hedgesville.
He was a member of Victory Tabernacle, Hedgesville.
He retired in 1998 from General Motors, Martinsburg, W.Va., after 30 years of service.
He was a 1957 graduate of Southern Fulton High School.
He was a member of United Auto Workers Local 1590, Martinsburg.
In addition to his wife of 50 years, he is survived by one daughter, Brenda Smith, Hedgesville; one son, Lynn E. Schetrompf Jr., Berkeley Springs; two sisters: Arlene Lemmert, Warfordsburg, and Norma “Sally” Payne, Berkeley Springs; two brothers: Kenneth Schetrompf, Bartow, Fla., and Arlie J. Schetrompf Jr., Warfordsburg; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Mary King, and a granddaughter, Amber Schetrompf.
Funeral services were held Monday, February 20, at 11 a.m., at Victory Tabernacle, Hedgesville. Pastor Carl Clark officiated. Burial was made in Fairview Cemetery, Artemas.
Grove Funeral Home, Hancock, was in charge of arrangements.
