Gaye Fraker was capped at the Methodist Episcopal Hospital School of Nursing in Philadelphia on February 26.

Mrs. C.B. Chubb is recuperating at home following a minor operation at Chambersburg Hospital.

Mrs. Donald Martin underwent an operation at Chambersburg Hospital on Monday. Her aunt, Mrs. Jessie Royer, RN, Lewisburg, was with her during the operation.

Cpl. Harold G.N. Deshong, son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas O. Deshong of Harrisonville, is pictured on the front page of this issue. He is currently serving near Kumwha, Korea, with the 424th field Artillery Battalion.

Dolly Carbaugh, 20, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Willie Carbaugh of Cito, suffered severe shock and burns on Tuesday morning when she was struck by lightning. She was standing in the doorway of her home during the storm when a ball of fire, presumably following a light wire, jumped to her left shoulder, crossed her body and burned down along her right leg. She was knocked unconscious, and her mother, who was standing back from the door, was knocked to the floor.

These 10 young men left Tuesday for Pittsburgh for their preinduction physical exams: Hollis Barnhart of Needmore; Marlin H. McQuade of McConnellsburg; Robert L.R. Mellott of Needmore; Fred V. Funk of Warfordsburg; Clyde L. Clark of Needmore; Gerald L. Culler of Mc- Connellsburg; Elston H. Bard of Knobsville; Kenneth E. Waite of Fort Littleton; Jerre Knepper Jr., Three Springs; and Fredric J. Knepper of Hustontown.

Birth: a son to Mr. and Mrs. Woodrow Keefer of Mc- Connellsburg on March 9.

The McConnellsburg Lions Club realized a profit of almost $335 from the minstrel show it staged here last Thursday and Friday nights.

Fredric Knepper, eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Joel Knepper of Hustontown, was feted at a surprise party on February 28 in honor of his 21st birthday.

John M. Strike and Nellie Jean Barmont were married on February 24.
