South Central Hoop Shoot Held

Jayden Kies Jayden Kies On January 29 at Southwestern High School in Hanover Jayden Kies, son of Misty Henry and Bill Kies of McConnellsburg, and Kierstyn, daughter of Kelly and Allen Morton of Needmore, both placed first in the South Central District Elks Hoop Shoot competition. Jayden was in the 8-9-year-old boys division and shot 21 out of 25. Kierstyn was in the 10- 11-year-old girls division and shot 17 out of 25. Both shooters represented the Chambersburg Elks Lodge 600 to attain the 2012 championship title.

Jayden and Kierstyn will represent the South Central District and the Chambersburg Lodge 600 in the Pennsylvania state competition on March 3 at State College.

Also in the competition from the Chambersburg Lodge 600 Katelyn Truax, daughter of Kellee and Kevin Truax of Mc- Connellsburg, placed third in the 8-9-year-old girls division, shooting 8 out of 25 and 4 for 10 in the shootout. Rachel Martin, daughter of Kelli and James Martin of Fort Loudon, placed second in the 12-13-year-old division, shooting 19 out of 25 and 1 for 5 in the shootout, and Cody Gustafson, son of Laura and Ken Gustafson of Newburg, placed third in the 12-13-year-old boys division, shooting 16 out of 25.
