Fulton County Conservation District is currently taking orders for its annual tree sale. A large variety of fruit, nut, ornamental and forestation trees are available. Also available are strawberries, blueberries, grapes, rhubarb and asparagus. Deadline for all orders is March 9, 2012. An order form can be obtained by calling the Conservation District at 717-485-3547, Extension 116, or by e-mail at firstname.lastname@example.org, or at http://fultoncountyconservationdistrict.org/event/2012- tree-sale. Profits from the tree seedling sale are used to support environmental education efforts within Fulton County.
Fulton County Cooperative Extension will conduct the following pesticide update trainings during the month of February from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Adhere to the school calendar, so if school is canceled, or has early dismissal, the meeting will be rescheduled: February 22 – Mc- Connellsburg High School; March 21 – Forbes Road High School; and March 22 – Southern Fulton High School. Meetings are 2 Core, 2 Category, and 2 Research credits. Cost for attendance is $5. More information may be obtained by contacting Greg Strait at 717-485-4111.
Southern Fulton Elementary School and Head Start pre-K will hold registration Tuesday, March 27. Call 717-294-3400 to register your child. Must be age 3 or 4 by September 1.
Military Care Packages
Forbes Road seniors Casey Mellott and Brittany Englert are collecting various items to send care packages to active full-time military troops from the area until February 20. They have placed collection boxes and detailed lists of the items requested in the following places: Dublin Mills Community Church, Newman’s Store, Waterfall, Community State Bank, Waterfall, Forbes Road High School, Hustontown Post Office, Hustontown Library, Hustontown Firehall, McConnellsburg Library, McLaughlin’s Drug Store, McDonald’s Drug Store,Save-A-Lot and Evangel Assembly of God Church. Central Fulton School District will hold registration for the 2012-2012 school year Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, March 27, 28 and 29. Children who will be age 4 on or before August 20 are eligible for the 4K program and children who will be age 5 or on or before August 20 are eligible for the 5K (kindergarten) program. Please note that students who are currently enrolled in the 4K program do not need to reregister for 5K. Please contact Stacy Morton at 485- 7072 to schedule an appointment.

Shooting Stars Registration
Shooting Stars will hold registration at Needmore Bible Church fellowship hall on the following dates: February 18 from 9 a.m. to noon and February 20 from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. Registration will be for majorettes age 3-23 and banner carriers, any age. Southern Fulton School District will have kindergarten registration February 29 and March 1. Anyone who has children who will be 5 years old before September 1, 2012, please call the elementary school at 717-294-3400 to schedule an appointment.
4-H Spring Fundraiser Marianna’s Hoagies & Pizza
Marianna’s fundraiser paperwork is now available, please see your 4-H leader to pick up or stop in the office. Any child who sells at least 10 items will have their dues covered by their club. Delivery date is April 25. Deadline for orders is April 11. Please get paperwork to your leader in advance. The office will not accept paperwork that is incomplete. It is your responsibility to tally up your order and make sure the money is all collected prior to turning in your order to your leader. Please make fundraiser checks payable to PDC.
Fulton County Library will be offering individual computer classes Thursday, February 16, from 10:15 a.m. to 6:15 p.m. Sign up for 45-minute sessions with reference librarian Jill Yaich, who can assist with topics such as basic computer skills, uploading pictures, e-reader help, social networking or job application help. Please bring any portable equipment you’d like help with and sign up by stopping in or calling the library at 717-485-5327.
AARP-TCE Free Tax Help
Free tax help and e-filing for taxpayers with low or middle income of any age, not just elderly, will be available at Fulton Theatre, McConnellsburg, every Wednesday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. February 1 to April 11. Volunteers will prepare federal, state, local and rent and property tax rebate. Please bring last year’s income tax returns, current year’s tax forms such as W-2s, 1099-int., 1099-Div. 1099-B, 1099-R, Society Security, etc. Must have last year’s taxes to be able to e-file.
