Students make use of the new track at Fulton County Community Christian School. Funds for the track were made possible through a Highmark Foundation School Challenge grant. Fulton County Community Christian School was selected to receive a Highmark Foundation School Challenge grant of $9,328 to install a fitness trail around the perimeter of the playground. This trail will be used to implement a running and walking program for all students in grades pre-K through 12th. The grant also funded additional playground equipment, including a fitness center, balance beams and pullup bars. The goal of the fitness program is to increase student fitness scores as measured by the Presidential Physical Fitness Challenge. Focused on children’s health promotion, the Highmark Foundation School Challenge grants are designed to improve the health of children and adolescents ages 6- 18 by providing them with the tools and practices needed to make informed decisions about living healthier lives.
