McConnellsburg 48

Chestnut Ridge 44

Chestnut Ridge tried valiantly to maintain a narrow lead Monday night, but the McConnellsburg Lady Spartans sunk key free throws to secure the Sideling Hill League game 48-44. Nikki Fleming had 16 points to lead the Spartans, who also saw Fleming pull down 16 rebounds for a double-double. Becca Hahn contributed 12 points, and Libby Strayer added six points and four steals.

Everett 53

Forbes Road 34

Forbes Road got off to a slow start Monday night and was able to close the gap against the Everett Warriors, who clinched the league match 53-34. Jessica Gearhart and Shayla Carmack each rallied for 10 points, and Gearhart also had 10 rebounds and three steals during the loss.

Berlin 46

Southern Fulton 42

Southern Fulton was handed its very first loss of the 2011-12 season Monday night with a four-point defeat at the hands of Berlin. Macey Hollenshead was high scorer with 16 points and four steals, while Courtney Strait followed with 12 points, 10 rebounds, two assists and two blocked shots. Taelor Morton finished out the non-league game with 10 points.

Southern Fulton 57

Fannett-Metal 28

Southern Fulton limited Fannett-Metal’s top scorer to a measly four points last Thursday and cruised to a 57-28 Sideling Hill League win. Meanwhile, Macey Hollenshead netted 18 points to lead the Indians’ offensive effort and also pulled down eight rebounds. Courtney Strait chipped in eight points and five steals, while Maddie Mellott finished with seven points.

McConnellsburg 47

Some key free throws by senior Jessica Gearhart helped lift the Forbes Road Cardinals to a 50-47 victory over the McConnellsburg Spartans last Thursday. Gearhart finished out the game with 15 points, 10 rebounds, five assists and five steals. Shayla Carmack also reached double figures with 11 points. Haley Lashinsky added six points and 10 rebounds.

Lady Spartan Nikki Fleming had 15 points to lead her teammates. Becca Hahn and Sarrah Pollock both finished with nine points and Jessi Pittman tallied seven.

Southern Fulton 52

Juniata Valley 42

The undefeated Southern Fulton Lady Indians continued their 10-game winning streak last Tuesday with a 52-42 win over Juniata Valley. Taelor Morton dumped in 21 points and made three steals during the non-league game. Macey Hollenshead chipped in 14 points and six assists, while Ashley Roman added 11 points and nine rebounds.

Forbes Road 36

Chestnut Ridge 23

Forbes Road picked up its first Sideling Hill League win of the season last Tuesday with a 36-23 victory over Chestnut Ridge. Shayla Carmack had 14 points, two assists and three steals to lead the Lady Cardinals during the non-league match, and Jess Gearhart contributed eight points and 10 rebounds. Sammi Clippinger and Breanna Worthing both rallied for six points.

Northern Bedford 69

McConnellsburg 54

The McConnellsburg Lady Spartans shot just shy of 45 percent from the field, but it wasn’t enough to keep pace with Northern Bedford last Tuesday. Dropping the Sideling Hill League match 69-54, the Spartans got 14 points from Becca Hahn. Sarrah Pollock added 10 points, while Nikki Fleming had eight points, 11 rebounds and three assists.

Southern Fulton 80

Fannett-Metal 59

Three members of the Southern Fulton Indians squad reached double figures during the Indians 80-59 win over Fannett-Metal Friday night. Damon Gordon rallied for 27 points, while teammate Seth Hall added 18 points. Brayden Litton contributed 15 points during the Sideling Hill League win.

Mowersville Christian 59


The Fulton County Community Christian School Chargers led by three going into the fourth quarter but ended the non-league game Friday night in a nine-point loss to Mowersville Christian. Skyler Gordon scored a whopping 31 points and also pulled down nine rebounds. Nathaniel Gingerich reached double digits with 17 points.

McConnellsburg 62

Forbes Road 58

McConnellsburg and Forbes Road battled back and forth for much of Friday’s game, but it was the Spartans who pulled ahead for the 62-58 Sideling Hill League victory. Tyler Green continued a strong offensive effort with 18 points and three steals for the Spartans. Tony White netted 14 points and grabbed 21 rebounds., while Jesse Swope and Evan Appleby had 12 and 10 points, respectively.

Meanwhile, Forbes Road’s Chase Shaw dumped in 19 points and made four steals in the match. Tristan Gelvin followed with 14 points and six assists. Teammates Brett Burger and Kyle Schoen both had seven points.

Fairfield 60

McConnellsburg 58

The Fairfield Green Knights scored as the game clock sounded last Wednesday, inching by the Mc- Connellsburg Spartans 60- 58. Tyler Green led his teammates with 22 points that included six three-point shots. Tony White had a doubledouble with 15 points, 13 rebounds, and five steals. Jesse Swope and Evan Appleby followed with nine and seven points, respectively.

Forbes Road 85

Hancock 62

Sophomore Chase Shaw tallied a team-high 28 points for the Forbes Road Cardinals, who rolled to a 85-62 non-league win over Hancock, Md., last Wednesday evening. Shaw also made five steals, while teammate Chris Everts added 15 points and 14 rebounds for a doubledouble. Tristan Gelvin rallied for 14 points and five assists, and Jordan Sowers finished with 10 points and five assists.
