Susan Martz of Hustontown is pictured in this issue presenting a check for $3,721 to Woodrow Strait, administrator of the Fulton County Medical Center, to be used as payment for a portable cardiograph unit.

The farm home of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Miller of Dublin Mills was completely destroyed by fire on Thursday night. The elderly couple were at home at the time of the fire, which was caused by a pipe on a coal and woodstove in the kitchen becoming overheated. They called for help to their son, Brinton, who lives approximately a quarter of a mile away and he, in turn, called Hustontown Fire Co. By that time, however, the whole side of the building was afire and, by the time firemen arrived on the scene, the wall was ready to cave in.

Sgt. Thomas Lane, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin Lane of Hustontown, returned from Germany recently and was honorably discharged on January 19.

Navy Petty Officer Third Class Richard E. Reeder, husband of the former Linda Matthews of McConnellsburg, was recently presented the U.S. Seventh Fleet Letter of Commendation by the commanding officer of the USS Mount Katmai.

C.J. McGarvey of McConnellsburg has been awarded an all-expense-paid, nineday vacation for two to Majorca, a resort island in the Mediterranean Sea, south of Spain. The trip was awarded to McGarvey for his sales with the Berwick Carpet Mills.

Miss Neva Kay Mellott, daughter of DeKalb H. Mellott of Harrisonville and the late Helen Elizabeth Mellott, and Richard Dale Watters, son of Mrs. Beryl Mae Watters of Cove Gap and the late Harvey Dale Watters, were united in marriage on Saturday, January 8, in St. Paul Lutheran Church.

Births at the Medical Center: a daughter to Mr. and Mrs. Walter Snyder of Hustontown on January 22; a daughter to Mr. and Mrs. David Shives of Harrisonville on January 23; a son to Mr. and Mrs. Gale Mellott of McConnellsburg on January 23; a daughter to Mr. and Mrs. James Truax of Mc- Connellsburg on January 24; a daughter to Mr. and Mrs. Roy Miller of McConnellsburg on January 24; a son to Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Whitsel of Three Springs on January 27.
