Hustontown

By Kate Berkstresser

The weekend was cold but no storms, so we can’t complain.

Pastor Bill and Joan Kuhn are spending a few days this week at a retreat in Lancaster.

Hustontown Fire Co. will sponsor a shooting match Saturday, January 21, at 1 p. m. Shells will be furnished and prizes awarded. The fire company appreciates any and all support.

The fire company will also sponsor an open stage Saturday, January 28, at 6 p.m. The kitchen opens at 5 p.m. All are invited to attend and share talent or just enjoy the talent of others. Admission is free. Hope to see you there. Come and support the fire company and also enjoy the evening.

Sunday evening dinner guests in the home of Herbert and Tammy Berkstresser and Aaron Koons were Herbie and Tabitha Berkstresser and children from McConnellsburg and Kate Berkstresser.

Happy birthday wishes to Lloyd Covert, June Bennett and Herbert Berkstresser, all January 22; Barbara Torscasco, January 23; Pamela Plante, January 24; and Pam Karczewski, January 24.

A combined Fairview and Knobsville churchwide birthday party will be held Sunday, January 29, at 5 p.m. at Knobsville Church. Bring a covered-dish meal. Twelve tables will be decorated – one for each month, so come out and sit at the table of your birthday month. Come out for an evening of fun, food and fellowship.

Household Hint: When your zipper refuses to glide smoothy try rubbing the teeth with a candle, a pencil lead or a bar of soap. The teeth should then glide up or down their tracks easily.
