McConnellsburg Residents Involved In Crash

Two McConnellsburg residents were involved in a four- vehicle crash along Route 30 in neighboring Franklin County last Wednesday evening.

Pennsylvania State Police in Chambersburg said a 17- year-old Chambersburg boy was travelling eastbound through Hamilton Township when he swerved to miss hitting an object along the roadway. The juvenile lost control of his 1999 Pontiac Sunfire, which crossed into the oncoming lane and crashed head-on into a 2011 Volvo S80 driven by Rayland J. Gallant, 50, also of Chambersburg.

Police noted that following initial impact, the driver’s side front wheel of the juvenile’s car became detached and struck a westbound 2006 Honda Civic operated by Fort Loudon resident Ginger L. Sherwood. The juvenile’s car then spun counterclockwise and struck the front bumper of a 2004 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 driven by Charity L. Casher, 36, of McConnellsburg.

Casher and her passenger, George W. Casher, 38, also of McConnellsburg, were wearing seat belts and escaped harm during the 6:04 p.m. collision at 1937 Lincoln Way West. Gallant and Sherwood were also using seat belts and were not injured, while the juvenile suffered minor injuries and was treated on the scene by Chambersburg EMS

All vehicles were removed from the scene by St. Thomas Towing.
