Two Vehicles Collide Off I-70 Exit

Two vehicles collided at the Interstate 70 exit in Brush Creek Township on Sunday, December 25, state police said.

According to news reports, Wendell J. Duncan, 75, of Haymarket, Va., was travelling westbound at 2:22 p.m. when he entered the turning lane for the exit ramp. Duncan’s 1999 Ford F-150 continued straight through the median strip separating the on and off ramps.

The truck then collided head-on with a 2003 Toyota 4 Runner driven by Joseph W. Petras, 51, of N. Huntingdon, Pa. Petras’s vehicle was travelling on the on ramp to Interstate 70 when it was struck, police added.

Duncan sustained minor injuries, while Petras escaped harm. Petras’s passengers, Diane M. Petras and Angel L. Petras, suffered injuries ranging from minor to moderate. All involved were wearing a seat belt.

Duncan will be cited for driving a vehicle at unsafe speeds.
