Earl K. Bowman

Earl Kenneth Bowman, 80, Hancock, Md., died Sunday December 25, 2011, at Morgan County War Memorial Hospital in Berkeley Springs, W.Va.

Born October 23, 1931, in Bedford County, Pa., he was the son of the late Earl Dewey and Annie Elizabeth Exline Bowman.

He was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the U.S. Army 1949-1952.

He was retired from the Washington County Board of Education.

He was a member of the Webster B. Harrison Post #26 American Legion and a member of Mt. Olivet Presbyterian Church, both in Hancock.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Phyllis A. (Getic) Bowman; children: Barbara A. Herbert of Hancock; Kenneth L. Bowman and wife Debbie of Hancock; Trudy K. Bowman, Judy L. Mosier and husband Herbie, both of Hancock; sisters: Ethel Barnhart and Ruth Young; grandchildren: Stanley Swisher, Zacharia Bowman, Bethany Bowman- Stansberry and Seth Bowman; great-granddaughter Destini Swisher; a number of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by grandson, Herbie Mosier III; a sister, Anna Mae Wade, and a brother, Elmer Bowman.

Services will be held Thursday, December 29,at 11 a.m. at Grove Funeral Home, Hancock. Rev. Phillip Unger will officiate. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Presbyterian Cemetery, Hancock.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. For convenience of family and friends, the funeral home will be open 3 p.m. to 8 p.m.
