Chase Had Ended Before Fatal Crash
YORK, Pa. (AP) – Authorities in central Pennsylvania say a police pursuit had ended shortly before an accident that claimed the life of the driver.
State police in York County say the crash that killed 21- year- old Brian Brouse of Wormleysburg was not the result of the chase.
Northern York County Regional Police say an officer tried to pull Brouse over early Friday in Manchester Township on suspicion of driving under the influence, but he didn’t stop and a brief chase began.
Lt. David Lash said the pursuit was terminated “because of safety concerns and weather conditions.’’
State police say the car hit a utility pole a quartermile away. Brouse was pronounced dead at the scene at 2:37 a.m. Friday.
Three other people were treated, but the occupants of two other vehicles struck were uninjured.
