Remains Found in Bedford Twp. Identified
The remains of a woman found November 30 in Bedford Township have been identified, state police said last Wednesday night.
A forensic odontologist, Dr. Charles Beall, has identified the skeletal remains as Audrey Rock Phoenix, 30, of Portland, Ore.
State police said Phoenix had been entered as an “endangered missing person” by the Portland Police Department on May 18, 2011.
An investigation into Phoenix’s cause of death and how she came to be in the wooded area near Shadyside Lane, Bedford, is under way.
Portland’s police department has been notified of the identification.
Bedford County deputy coroner Rusty Styer will be the point of contact for the woman’s family, police said.
The remains were found by hunters and then were sent to Mercyhurst Archaelogical Institute for examination. Dental records were used to identify the woman, police said.
