Marie A. Parkinson
Marie A. Parkinson, 88, McConnellsburg, Pa., died Friday, December 9, 2011, at the Community General Osteopathic Hospital in Harrisburg.
She was born June 17, 1923, in St. Louis, Mo., the daughter of the late Francis and Anna Schimmelpfennig. She was married to the late John T. Parkinson November 4, 1944.
Along with being a wife and homemaker, she worked as a bookkeeper for the Hechinger Co. until she retired.
She was a member of Mc- Connellsburg St. Paul’s United Church of Christ where she was a longtime Sunday school teacher. She enjoyed spending time reading and with her family.
She is survived by three daughters: Ann (wife of Jose) Garcia of Munich, Germany; Mary Lou (wife of James) Starnater of Clifton, Texas, and Jean (wife of Paul) Irving of Mercersburg; six grandchildren; four great-grand- children; and one brother, Frank Schimmelpfennig of St. Louis, Mo.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents and two sisters:Anna Schimmelpfennig and Rosemary Huitt.
An evening of visitation will be held Thursday, Dec. 15, 2011, at Kelso-Cornelius Funeral Home in McConnellsburg, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. A funeral service will be held Friday, December 16, 2011, at 3 p.m. at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, 228 North Second Street, McConnellsburg, PA 17233. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family.
