Union Twp. Home Burns In Fire
A fire that erupted last Thursday evening in Union Township remains under investigation by a fire marshal with the Pennsylvania State Police.
Volunteer firefighters were dispatched to the home of the late Augusta Schetrompf during the late night hours on December 8. Orleans Fire Department in Allegheny County, Md., was the primary responders during the 11:30 p.m. blaze.
Company member Randy Powell was unavailable to comment on the fire, which destroyed the two-story home currently owned by Schetrompf’s family. The home located at 2109 High Germany Road, Warfordsburg, was rented at the time by Floyd Stanley Bohrer and Jason and Rebecca Garlock.
According to Fire Marshal M.B. Gordon of the McConnellsburg state police barracks, firefighters were alerted to the blaze after it was observed by nearby neighbor Allen Hixon.
Gordon has listed the overall loss at $100,000 for both the home and the personal contents of Bohrer and the Garlocks.
No cause or point of origin is available at this time from Gordon. He is still in the process of investigating the fire after his initial visit to the fire scene last Friday.
