At the end of this week, Susan

Martz, 14, of Hustontown, will wind up her nearly two-year-long project of collecting coupons from General Mills products to provide kidney machines for Pennsylvania hospitals. Since April 1970, Susan and her family and friends have trimmed, packaged and delivered approximately 4.5 million coupons, which have been redeemed for kidney machines now in use at Harrisburg Hospital, Philadelphia General Hospital, Hershey Medical Center, Altoona Mercy Hospital and the York County Kidney Foundation.

The new 1972 40-45 Model for the condorlift will be placed on display by Fulton Industries of McConnellsburg at the Plant Engineering and Maintenance Show, to be held in Civic Center in Philadelphia from January 24-27.

A defective commercial ice-making machine was blamed for a fire at 4:45 p.m. last Wednesday at the Mercersburg Inn, causing damage estimated by firemen at $2,500.

State police of the McConnellsburg substation report that no accidents were investigated in Fulton County during the holiday weekend.

Engagement: Mr. and Mrs. Boyd Mellott of Warfordsburg announce the engagement of their daughter, Barbara Jean Mellott, to John Merle Mellott, son of Mr. and Mrs. William M. Mellott of Needmore.

Mr. and Mrs. J.D. Richards of Warfordsburg were honored on their 50th wedding anniversary Sunday, November 21, with an open reception at Whips Cove United Church of Christ.

Mr. and Mrs. Harry L. Stunkard of Wells Tannery recently celebrated 50 years of married life September 8.

Wrecking crews are now demolishing the old ‘88 dormitory of Mercersburg Academy which has been replaced by the new William C. Fowler Hall.
