Edna E. Truax, 64, wife of Rev.

Floyd Truax of Needmore, was killed on Monday when the car she was driving went out of control on the snow-covered, slippery road and struck a utility pole, head on. The fatal accident makes the fifth recorded for Fulton County this year.

McConnellsburg firemen were called to assist the Needmore Fire Co. last Thursday at a barn fire on the Maynard Mellott farm located on the Sipes Mill Road, five miles west of Needmore. The firemen were able to save the structure, but there was extensive damage to the barn floor. The cause of the fire continues under investigation.

Both local Fulton County banks are in a race to establish branch offices in the southern part of the county. It is a race that both banks may eventually win. The First National Bank is planning for a branch bank in Needmore. And The Fulton County National Bank released information that it is planning a branch office in the Warfordsburg area.

A bewildered doe, on the move during the first day of doe season, late Monday afternoon, came to grief in town when it was hit as it ran across Lincoln Way East by a tow truck towing a disabled car and driven by Allen Swope.The injured animal picked itself up, then ran toward Richards Auto Sales, into one of the new cars parked in front and attempted to run through three of the showroom windows, splattering them with blood. It was last seen running through the rear parking lot to the questionable safety of the open countryside.
