Tuesday gave tentative approval to a 1992 county budget of $2,931,245 which calls for a 5.5-mill real estate tax increase from 13 to 18.5 mills. Final adoption of the budget is expected at the December 30 meeting.

The deer kill in the county last week during the first week of buck season was down about one-third, according to local Game Commissioner Wildlife Conservation Officer Mark Crowder.

More than 20 residents of Fulton County and surrounding areas attended a public meeting last Thursday, December 5, in Harrisburg regarding siting of a low-level radioactive waste disposal facility in Pennsylvania. Many of the residents who attended posed questions to the officials from the state Department of Environmental Resources, Chem-Nuclear Systems Inc. and Law Environmental Inc.

Vincent Hierholzer of Hustontown, like many county hunters, killed his buck this hunting season. But unlike any other hunter, he did it from a wheelchair. A quadriplegic for the last 11 years, he utilizes a special shoot rest that allows him to sight his rifle. And that is just what he did last Tuesday when he sighted a 6-point buck at about 150 yards.

Area residents Dot Doyle and Deb Welsh have returned victorious from the National Hockey Festival where their Central Penn Masters team played eight games and finished in first place with a record of 6-1-1.

Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Mellott of Needmore announce the engagement of their daughter, Diana, to Curtis Bryner, son of Mr. and Mrs. Larry Bryner, Warfordsburg.

Mr. and Mrs. Rene Clugston announce the birth of a son, Eris Rene, November 5.
