Area Christmas Programs
Vocalists and actors from both Cito and McConnellsburg United Methodist churches are joining forces to present “A Baby Changes Everything” Saturday, December 17, at 7 p.m., at Cito United Methodist Church and also on Sunday, December 18, at 11 a.m. at Mc- Connellsburg United Methodist Church.
The amazing musical drama by Deborah Craig-Claar and David Clydesdale re-creates elements of the Christmas story. The innkeeper, his wife and a host of others in Bethlehem find their lives transformed by the arrival of the Christ child. The narrative and musical arrangements tug at heart strings as the choir presents uplifting songs of praise and familiar carols. Among the songs are “One More Silent Night,” “A Baby Changes Everything,” “Gloria in Excelsis Deo,” “While You Were Sleeping,” and “My Heart is Bethlehem.”
The cast includes both children and adults.
Cito UMC is located at 3746 Cito Road and is 4.5 miles south of McConnellsburg. McCon-nellsburg United Methodist Church is across from the courthouse at the square in downtown McConnellsburg. Sideling Hill Christian Church, 10424 Sipes Mill Road, Needmore, will hold its annual Christams program Christmas Eve at 7 p.m. There will be recitations, special singing and a Christmas play entitled “Arrest These Merry Gentlemen,” followed by a candlelight service. All are welcome.
A Christmas program will be held December 18 at 7 p. m., at Pleasant Ridge Church of the Brethren, Needmore. There will be recitations by the children, followed by a play “The Christmas Prodigal. The play is a touching comedy, a modernday spin on the story of the Prodigal Son. After years of being over-shadowed by her pretty and over-confident older sister, Peri leaves home, taking the money from her college savings. Peri, once quiet and hard working, lives a life of excess, but finally realizes she wants to return to her family. A homeless man, who has more connection to the family than anyone initially realizes, urges Peri to call home. Humor is added by Uncle Marvin, the peanut butter king; Naomi, his factchallenged wife; and Benjamin, the obsequious boyfriend of older sister Ashley.
There will be a chour presentation December 18.
A candlelight service of lessons and carols will be held at 6 p.m. on Christmas Eve, December 24, at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, 228 North Second Street, with special music.
A Christmas cantata, “Promised One,” will be held at Dublin Mills Community Church, 2700 Dublin Mills Road, Hustontown, December 25, at 10 a.m. There will also be children’s recitations. All are welcome. More information may be obtained by calling 814-685-3910.
The youth of Warfordsburg Presbyterian Church will present the musical “For The Glory of the King,” Sunday, December 18, at 7 p.m. The community is cordially invited to enjoy the message of the season.

A Christmas Eve candlelight service will be held by Harrisonville United Methodist Charge at Ebenezer Church at 7 p.m. December 24. All are welcome to join in a celebration of song, story and communion. The church is located on Ebenezer Church Road.
