Ramsey Gets Welding Award
Elisa Ramsey, welding program instructor at Fulton County Area Vocational-Technical School, was honored to be the recipient of the American Welding Society (AWS) District Director Certificate Award at the November AWS District 7 meeting. Fulton County Vo-Tech welding students (and AWS student members) who attended were: William Black, Zach Bradley and Blayne Hill from Central Fulton; Josh Hess, Allan Martz and Dustin Guyer from Forbes Road; and Matt Swadley and Tyler Dunkin from Southern Fulton. The meeting was held in Johnstown, at Concurrent Technology Corp., which houses one of 12 machines in the world that performs friction stir welding. Ramsey has been the welding program instructor since 2008 and has been an AWS member since 2009. This is the second award received from the AWS Foundation, founded in 1919 as a multifaceted, nonprofit organization with a goal to advance the science, technology and application of welding and related joining disciplines.
