Pa. Man Gets Life In Neighbor’s Fatal Beating
CARLISLE, Pa. (AP) – A central Pennsylvania man will spend life in prison in the fatal beating of an elderly neighbor in February 2009.
Twenty-one-year-old Colton Matthew Hardy pleaded no-contest Friday in the beating death of 88-year-old Ethel Weaver inside her Dickinson Township, Cumberland County home.
Authorities say Hardy broke into Weaver's home, took her car keys and beat her to death before taking her car for a joyride.
Police said Hardy drew their attention when he showed an unusual amount of interest in the crime.
Investigators say he later admitted he fatally beat Weaver after she got out of bed while he crawled across her bedroom floor.
