Hartsel G. McClain

Mapleton, 91

Hartsel G. McClain, 91, Mapleton, died at 12:09 p.m., Monday, November 21, 2011, at his home.

Born April 23, 1920, in Taylor Township, Fulton County, he was the son of the late George A. and Verna (Laidig) McClain. He was united in marriage to the former Thressa M. Kyler for the past 70 years. She survives at their home.

He is survived by his two sons: H. William McClain and his wife, Nancy, Dover, and Robert C. McClain of California; five grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two brothers: Ellis and Wilmer; and a sister, Faye Stevens.

He had attended the former Latta Grove United Methodist Church, Mapleton.

He was a veteran of World War II, in which he served with the United States Navy.

He retired from Bendix Radio Inc., Fort Lauderdale, Fla., as a manager.

He enjoyed using his HAM radio and talking to people all over the world.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Friday, November 25, at Martin R. Brown Funeral Home, Orbisonia.Rev. Bryan McNally officiated. Burial was made at Bowman’s Chapel Cemetery, Mapleton.
