Hunter Shot In Leg Near Pittsburgh

ELIZABETH, Pa. (AP) – Officials with the Pennsylvania Game Commission say a 14-year-old boy accidentally shot himself in the leg while hunting with his father near Pittsburgh on the first day of deer rifle season.

Authorities have yet to release the name of the boy who was injured early Monday while hunting in Elizabeth, about 15 miles south of the city.

Authorities say the boy has been taken to Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC.

Game commission officials say the boy was in a tree stand. They say his father helped him out of the woods and summoned help.
