Officials Confiscate ‘Occupy’ Tents
HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) – Public works employees have confiscated the tents of Occupy Harrisburg protesters at a park near the state Capitol.
Harrisburg Mayor Linda Thompson gave the protesters a two-hour warning to remove their tents from Riverfront Park on Friday morning. Her spokesman, Robert Philbin, says workers under the watch of city police began confiscating tents around 1:30 p.m.
Philbin says the tents violated city ordinances. He says protesters are free to be at the park without tents until 10 p.m. and that the city is trying to find a vacant private property in the city where they can protest with tents.
